Words by Andrew Willis
Paris feels like permission — permission to be sensual, romantic, ambitious, beautiful, ridiculous, powerful, vulnerable, and completely alive. Sex is not hidden away from life here; it is woven through it, in the way people look at each other, dance, dress, touch, flirt, argue, disappear into the night, and somehow emerge the next morning entirely composed. Romance is everywhere, but it is not soft or innocent. It feels dangerous, intelligent, self-possessed, and full of desire, confidence, escape, and possibility. Paris makes it feel possible to abandon the version of yourself everyone else expects and become someone more interesting, more beautiful, more fearless, and more fully yourself. Art is not separate from life; it is the language through which people understand beauty, power, love, rebellion, sexuality, and identity. Pleasure does not need to be apologized for. Dancing can be serious, sex can be beautiful, beauty can be powerful, and confidence can be its own form of freedom. Paris reminds me that becoming the best version of yourself does not mean becoming more respectable, restrained, or obedient — it means becoming more honest, expressive, courageous, romantic, and willing to follow whatever makes you feel alive. My heart searches for why, where my spirit says why not. That tension between thought and desire, discipline and escape, elegance and abandon is what makes Paris endlessly intoxicating.
